While good points are made below, I know in my case (and probably Max's as well), the character limit in the detailed description would likely be exceeded if we put our entire project proposal in the Google application.  That being said, if I can still edit it, I might put at least the general "about me" stuff into the Google application as a start.  Also note that the detailed description is supposedly never made public, but is available to mentors.
