I think the most effective thing that could be done to fix that would be to create a screenshot upload page on the site, and maybe to link it under a menu/menuitem: "Community/Upload Screenshot" or something like that. I'm surprised more Free Software apps don't include something like a menu that shows off ways to get involved in the community around the program.
