The feature of La Liberté that I think inkscape might especially be interested in is the properties dialog. Although it is Qt-based, and thus not very inspirational that way, it is an extremely nice feature for professional page layout software. This one dialog has many facets and may be the only 'dialog' you need to do a wide range of page layout, using very little screen real-estate.
In Inkscape, a similar role is played by the Tool Controls panel at the top - not only does it control tool behavior, but also changes all sorts of properties of selected objects. It has the additional advantage of being tool-sensitive, and takes even less screen real estate than any dialog.
