In the end, there isn't yet enough in the Gtkmm codebase to "pick everything up", or to even "pick half of something up" as people are worried about. We're still finalizing too many framework-oriented things to worry about picking stuff up from 0.40cvs. And the framework oriented stuff we're working on now doesn't really overlap with the vast majority of work being done on 0.40.
That makes me feel a little better. The framework stuff is the most important, and least likely to conflict.
