Hi Bob, Didnt work on my win 2k box, and my attempts at building OpenSSL failed. It would build with the old mingw i had on there with the 3.4.5 C++ headers, but when i tried it with the 4.1.1 bundle you linked to in the jabber room, it fell over in set_key.c (look in the logs if you want details, i posted the error) If you've ideas on fixing it give me a shout, I'll try have another go some point this weekend.
Cheers
John

Although I gave up on win2k after all of the headache and heartache of trying to get a win2k-compatible build of openssl, I thought I would try again.
Here is a copy I built with VC++ 8 Express and the Win Server 2003 Platform SDK:
http://inkscape.modevia.com/win32libs/openssl-0.9.8d-msvc.7z
and here is an Inkscape build with it and the -DHAVE_SSL flag:

Could someone please try it on win2k and see if it works?
Actually, to see of this version of OpenSSL works on your machine, just running the openssl.exe main app would be a good test.
