There's actually no "installer" for Inkscape on the mac. There's just a disk image, which is opened and presents a window containing Inkscape application. One only has to copy it to his/her harddrive to "install" it (modulo some details it could even run directly from said disk image). We control the appearance of the window[1] so we could put the About screen as the background, or somewhere in the background. But I'm not sure how good it will look. It'll probably add much clutter to and otherwise simple process. Plus the user only sees this window for very little time: the window opens, one drags Inkscape to the desktop and then closes the window. It can last as little as 2-3 seconds.
