Actual rasterization only happens in the viewport. However, it's still necessary to account for portions of the shape outside the viewport somehow (particularly for filling).
Our problem is that we currently do far more computation than is necessary for those "outside" portions of the path, and livarot's inefficiencies magnify that effect.
