This is kinda disappointing because I have to open another program to save my file in a proper format.
Jpeg is the format you want, but it's not proper. (upstanding, correct or respectable) It's a format suitable for compressing photos and this advice comes with a warning: Jpeg is a lossy format that isn't suitable for images with sharp lines, logos, print or text.
These technical issues are why it's not the format inkscape exports to. Png is the proper format here :-) we don't support jpeg deliberately.
Do you have any tips or extensions or any updates that I could use to save in jpg format?
If you need automated conversion you should look into imagemagik, gimp will also save jpegs. There are no extensions I know of that will export jpeg files directly from inkscape but someone could make one perhaps if they had enough time.
Good luck!
