This is optional, but helps if you want others to directly commit their feedback.
I suggest to add a section in "Getting Started with Inkscape Development" on the homepage describing the correct settings and maybe also how to create a fork on gitlab (or just link the gitlab documentation).
Feel free to write down something and put it up for discussion (At best, create a GitLab issue and post the link here).
I'll be happy to include the text on the website as soon as everyone agrees, but currently don't have the time to write it myself.
