Inkscape is a 2D drawing tool. However, very often it is used to draw
3D objects. It would be very cool to have more support from the
program for doing that, instead of just drawing everything manually.
I think this is a really cool idea.  DRAW has a few tools that you may be thinking of such as Extrude and Perspective.  However, I must say that the UI isn't the greatest, probably in large part because this functionality has been around for a long time.  I have attached a screenshot of each tool in action on a simple rectangle to see if this is the kind of thing you were picturing.

I wanted to come back to the IP issue I talked about earlier with the text tool and having worked at Corel.  I would actually really like to work on that tool as well, so I intend to perhaps find out from my manager at Corel, in a general way, what implications may exist when working on an open source project like this.  Perhaps there wouldn't be much issue after all....? And even if there is I'm perfectly happy and exited about working on other aspects.  Take the multi-page thing mentioned later on - definitely a great addition.

Anyway, I hope to have time to play with the software more over the next week or so, but until then, I'll probably just get excited about the ideas you guys come up with ;)

Ciao,
Gail
