Out of curiosity, is it planned to deploy 301 redirects from old pages?

I've gone ahead and placed the request for the DNS change.
For reference, the old site will still be accessible at
http://140.211.166.38/. šAnyone know if there are other domain names
pointed at this IP address?
At some point I suppose we should turn the old site off, so no one can
run into it accidentally and get outdated info. šThe old content will
always be available via SF's SVN archive.
Btw, is the new site's drupal files/configuration/etc. stored in version
control somewhere? šAlso, is the database content backed up somewhere we
can get at it in case osuosl burns down?
