Hi Tuukka,
It's possible that many of the developers have migrated to Inkscape so don't need to convert from Illustrator. You may want to ask on inkscape-user@...6..., as well as on some of the Illustrator lists. I'll bet you can find some interested people, just look hard for 'em. :-)
