just wondering if I should file a bug, or if it's so simple that I don't need to.
File a RFE please.
Yeah, but not right now, it's too late, hope I'll remember tomorrow. Sure I was talking about RFE and not a bug.
Btw: Since my laptop was for repair, I used CorelDraw, and I think for basic vector editing and layouting inkscape is by now better than Corel. That is something!
Which version of Corel? :)
Version 11... I don't think 12 is any better. The 0.39 Version of Inkscape I have is quite unstable though... I'm hoping for something new soon in Debian.
The main advantage is how transparencies are handled and that the updating of the canvas work better.
Which also brings me to one other thing I'm missing: Baseline Grid. Even for simple flyers and brochures it's nice (or rather necessary) to have. CorelDraw just pissed me of for not having it!
What is baseline grid and how it's different from the grid we have on pressing #?
Baseline grid is a grid to have the baseline of text adjusted to if you have several lines. It's basically for paragraph text, but for flyers with only a few paragraphs inkscape is better suited than scribus or indesign. So when you have to textboxes (not yet available, I think, but anyways) at different positions on the canvas the lines will be aligned horizontally. This looks a lot better. In Corel it pissed me of because I had to use guides or objects and move the textboxes up and down until it fit quite well. Is is clear, what I'm talking about? If not so, I'll try to find an example image on the web somewhere.
