Please be more specific, the same applies to Alexandre.
Seeing the style of the Inkscape Preferences mockup, this design appears to use a treeview instead of notebook pages, and to replace checkbuttons with radiobuttons, so rewrite would be necessary.
This would be on the bottom of the todo list (probably not 0.44) so you both have enough time for specific design proposals.
