I think Krzysztof summed up most of the "cons" nicely, and just like you are done argueing, I think others are done argueing as well :) Basically, some of us still have our doubts about the value in transitioning to a completely new system, but if you still want to go ahead, be my guest.
We certainly can't stop you. Also, if you manage to turn out something useful (within a reasonable time frame) that: - definitely improves upon our current site/wiki (in terms of navigation and editability and such) - allows for a relatively easy migration - and is based on off-the-shelf components as much as possible, then I would definitely be willing to help in moving content over. (One thing to consider in this is that it would be invaluable to be able to keep existing links from external sites the same.)
Finally, if you are going to implement something fresh, my personal request would be to keep equation support in the back of your mind :) (The Inkscape wiki currently has support for it enabled through some mechanism specific to MediaWiki, but a lot of other systems have a similar capability, and there are some alternatives that are less bound to a specific system, using JavaScript for example.)
