He mentions zooming out. Wouldn't this be partly attributable to Inkscape's long-standing problem with slow rendering at high zoom?
Hi - Actually zooming is nice and fast, it's panning that's slow, at any zoom. Well, panning gets slow after some time. When the app is first run, it's nice and quick -- after a while it becomes faster for me to zoom out (with the wheel and ctrl) and then zoom in (to where the cursor is) than it is to pan across to the next area.
