I updated the version string on the snap packages. If you're on Ubuntu (16.04 or newer) you can install with:

$ snap install --candidate inkscape

I've been using the prereleases for a while and haven't had any issues. If anyone else does, please tell me. Once we switch to the main channel it is the default option for installing Inkscape on Ubuntu.
