Exactly, and that has been a problem since Sodipodi. It just needs to be added. Meanwhile, it's another reason to never use the fill/stroke opacity properties as they are "hidden" for gradients and patterns. Just use master opacity always.
Ah, I see. I've drawn a shape that probably used my last selected style with a low Alpha value. Then I've added a gradient and the Alpha value remained. After that you can't change the Alpha value back, unless you change back to a flat colour, or dig in the XML editor like I did :)
Would it be possible to reset the Alpha value when assigning a gradient to an object?
