Unfortunately not. The work this summer will make it easier for someone else to add what you want at a later time. I don't believe anyone has plans to directly work on what you're looking for at this time.

Cheers,
Josh

Hi Imppao,

We have a preferences page for all of our tools. If you double-click a tool in the toolbox, it will bring up Inkscape's preferences opened to the corresponding page. So, double-click the Pencil Tool in the toolbox and it will bring up a similar dialog. However, we don't bury our smoothness setting on that page like in AI as it exists in the Tool Controls bar.

I would say the only thing from AI's pencil tool in this video that I personally see as really nice is modifying an existing selected object very easily (which may be more easy to implement down the road after Krzysztof's GSoC work this summer).

Am I missing something else specifically from that dialog that you're really interested in?

Cheers,
Josh

Hi Imppao,

What features are you specfically referring to in the video? As far as
i can tell, you can already do all of this in Inkscape, using the
smoothing setting of the pen tool. (see this quick screencast --
