I think that could be why one thing under GTK+ theme control is labels on buttons.
In doing some of the UI cleanup I started on we might hit that fairly soon. (Testing behavior with different extremes of themes is one thing I'm just getting started with).
Between themes and options we should get quite a range of people happy. Of course, that needs to be balanced with limiting the problems of too many choices.
