Ah, yes you're right. I was assuming these were left over from the Sodipodi days, so the translators would be long gone, but certainly can't hurt to send them a notice. :-)
You're right - those files have not been touched since the fork. Three of them were last modified in 2000, one in 2003. And yes, we could send those guys letters, but since what they contributed to was Sodipodi, I don't think we should.
For what it's worth, the way translations were handled in Sodipodi was a bit different than we do it. There is a GNOME list specifically for translators, and Lauris would post to that list just prior to making a release, then those translators (who all had CVS access via GNOME) would check in their translations. So while they were contributing it to Sodipodi, it felt more like they were contributing to "another GNOME app" rather than Sodipodi specifically.
Given that, I wouldn't expect we would be likely to get their assistance, but you never know.
In any case, you might want to consider posting to that translator's list, to see if there might be people interested, and give them the directions for how to submit translations for us, since our process is different from how they usually do it.
One thing we could do is to check the current Sodipodi translations, but I don't know where to find them. Anyone?
Yes, Sodipodi is in the GNOME CVS tree, so either go to www.gnome.org and look for their CVS Web type thingee, or look at the CVS co info on the Sodipodi site. My guess is that the translations are probably not current, and if they've been updated it would be for terms that are not in Inkscape. But it's probably worth a look.
