I agree with this and in fact it was being done in the "early" days last year :-) but it suddenly stopped (why?). It is particularly useful when (as I do I with win32 releases) you download a full package (14M) every couple of weeks or when there is a major change and in between bring down .exes or .exe zips. These latter simply override the preexisting one but have no indication at present of the devel version. The previous way was to have the date and time in year-month-day-time format in the about screen. That method also has the advantage that the zips can be stored and will stay in sequence.
