Looks like that bug concerns the gradient editor dialog which, with the current advances in on-canvas editing, is planned for removal. If anyone can think up a good reason to still have that dialog after we can add/move/remove/recolor intermediate gradient stops on canvas, please speak up.
I would need more time to think about it but you may want to hold on to the dialog for keyboard accessibility rather than interactive mouse control. You might also want it for precision values so that users could specify exactly angles. Having said that if you really want to remove the dialog you can probably do other things to mitigate these kinds of issues.

You're probably right but now was the time to mention it. It does seem like it will be good riddance to the gradient dialog. (Getting rid of the Font dialog however would not be a good idea, there is just too much Font related functionality users will want that cannot reasonably be accomodated in a toolbar.)
