Note that <path> elements can't have units in their d attribute.
Thus, I believe the option of using mm or the like as the base unit should be implemented by letting the outermost SVG element have a viewBox attribute, and width & height attributes specified in mm or similar.
Giving users control over the viewBox attribute has previously been discussed on channel. What's the best way of searching the logs? Google didn't work for me.
