At http://developer.gimp.org/NEWS, one thing jumped on me:
- added an option to make the dock windows transient to the active image display
I haven't tried it yet, but from the description, this is exactly what Inkscape does for its dialogs. FINALLY. For me, this was by far the worst usability problem with GIMP (and with Sodipodi/Inkscape, until I invented the transientize hack). About a year ago I spent quite some time trying to persuade them that this hack, while being a hack, is still better than no solution at all. Looks like they have finally agreed :)
This is big news, even if this option is off by default. At least now we can be telling people that GIMP is not really that much worse than Inkscape, if you know the right option to enable :) It's also good that now that we both implement this behavior, we can exchange the code and fixes, and maybe join our forces to make it less hack-ish and more standard.
