Hmmm... Your suggestion is more reasonable than my approach. Thanks for reminding me that default.svg is an option. :) Too bad it's not that obvious. Had to browse through inkscape.org in order to find where should I put that file in. ;)
It's very much a viable solution. But I do think if we're going to recommend saving a customized default.svg, we should really add an option to more easily do so (basically, make the user avoid having need to know where it's located). I think we have enough reasons besides snapping options alone to do so (document size, guides, etc).
