You can maybe google for "ubuntu dapper backports" -> it may give you a repo for dapper that contains inkscape0_44.deb

thks for the link - but I really do not like this download site - the web page simply has a button that says "download file" with no link label or explanation of what you are downloading - I actually tried it (trusting the comments on ubuntu forums) and cannot see any downloaded inkscape file, lord knows what I downloaded. If it's a good deb file, can't we get it posted on the Inkscape site where we have the other inkscape binary downloads ?
