The "Help->About Inkscape" splash can be slow to render and has given some users the impression that Inkscape is therefore slow.

One option is to replace the splash rendering with a static image in release builds.

A downside of this is maintaining and adding a ~200Kb image to the package.

But at some stage Inkscape may get a startup splash anyway ...

Any interest in adding a static splash image ?
