Generally not.
Aside from taking up more space, most user expectations would conflict with the latter.
For example, in my mail program, one "Junk Mail" page of preferences has "Enable junk mail filtering" as a single checkbox, but three different "When junk mail arrives" options as three radio buttons (leave it in inbox and flag, move to junk mailbox, or perform custom actions)
