Hmm, I'm not a professional artist myself, so I respect the opinion of those who are. But I don't agree that it's a purely geometric function. For example, it greatly simplifies the creation of simple stipple patterns and related things. In particular, the "random mode" of this functionality (Ctlr+Alt+click) is a distinctly non-geometric feature. That's why I think it should be available in the Pencil tool, too (in fact, I have hardly ever used it in the Pen tool at all).

Why? Points are only created upon the first click where pressing Ctrl doesn't make sense anyway because it doesn't have any effect.
What are other people's opinions? I'd just be interested what suits most people's workflow best.
