Hm. I apologize that wasn’t the problem - but thank you for checking. I’m not certain how Windows handles Fonts, but if you are certain that you do not have many, then it shouldn’t cause the delay in launching.
You can find past editions of 1.2.x here:
Notice that you can explore the 1.3.x (and multiple versions for nearly twenty years) by exploring the navigation links available for all platforms from the release page, here:
I notice that I failed to reply to the developer list, so please feel free to include our full exchange in a future reply and perhaps it will assist one of the developers or Inkscape team members to offer further guidance.
Sorry you’re having issues but thank you for choosing Inkscape! =)
Best,Nathan

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your suggestions. I don't know how to remove the installed fonts. In fact, I don't install any additional fonts except those installed by applications.
Where could I find the Inkscape binaries for each of the 1.2.x commits? If I could get these, I might be able to find which commit introduced the problem.
Best,
Jinsong

Hello!
Those versions introduced a variety of features, but given your explanation, the first thing which comes to mind is to try significantly reducing (or temporarily moving entirely) any excessive number of installed fonts on your system to a bare minimum?
If your are able to then launch Inkscape in a more timely manner, this may indicate the cause for the delay. I am hoping that other readers with more experience on Windows systems will be able to offer their suggestions and solutions as well.
Thank you for the references to your question being posed already in multiple spots. Do you perhaps also use chat.Inkscape.org in the #inkscape_user or #team_devel channels with any frequency?
Best,
Nathan

Dear Inkscape developers,
I should report the following potential bug in GitLab, but I cannot do so because I am unable to register an account on GitLab. I am asking the question on the forums and the chat channel. I do not get a solution.
The problem is reported and discussed here: https://inkscape.org/forums/beyond/13-and-131-are-very-very-slow-opening-a-small-pdf-file/ and I think https://inkscape.org/forums/questions/the-pdf-file-does-not-open-in-version-13/ reported the same problem.
I also searched the issues on GitLab, there are several similar reports, for example https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/issues/8503 and https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/4597#note_1568155608.
The OS I am running Inkscape on is Windows 10 and 11 Home Edition. I have encountered this issue with Inkscape 1.3, 1.3.1 and 1.3.2. Inkscape 1.2.x works fine.
I hope someone here can reproduce this problem and fix it.
Best,
Jinsong
