Don't you concern to distinct
these handles from other by for instance other colour? It would be very
comfortable if the grid appeared between handles.
This is not purely effect related, it is more a UI issue, which is independent from the Lattice LPE.
A lot of work have already been done to improve usability thanks to Maximilian and his work during GSoC. It is now much much better than it was before.
He even added once the grid functionality, I don't know where his work went for this.
