Just to clarify (since above statement is attributed to me): we do not know (nor claimed) that this is actually a bug in the external cairo graphics library: what we know at this point is that the reported issue reproduces with all Inkscape builds after the merge of Inkscape's new cairo-based renderer in revision 10326.
AFAICT the version of cairo does not play a role (tested and reproduced with 0.91+devel r14341 using cairo 1.12.2, 1.14.2 and cairo 1.14.3 (git master)).
I didn't download your file, but for my pattern, what worked was to drag the x shaped handle of the pattern closer to the object.
I tested it, and the workaround to drag the pattern handles closer to the object which uses it does work in this case, too.
With the workaround in place, I'd still recommend to not zoom in too closely - it might turn black (instead of disappear), or hang your system (excessive memory usage) and eventually crash (in pixman):
