I've now come to a point where I think the quality might be acceptable for use as a fall back (see the last couple of images). Also, the technique used to achieve this quality might be appropriate in some other cases as well, as it can be used to increase the quality without having to increase the working precision in the renderer.

As can be seen Inkscape can now render all the required filters properly and in agreement with Batik.
