Jpeg is the format you want, but it's not proper. (upstanding, correct
or respectable) It's a format suitable for compressing photos and this
advice comes with a warning: Jpeg is a lossy format that isn't suitable
for images with sharp lines, logos, print or text.

These technical issues are why it's not the format inkscape exports to.
Png is the proper format here :-) we don't support jpeg deliberately.

If you need automated conversion you should look into imagemagik, gimp
will also save jpegs. There are no extensions I know of that will export
jpeg files directly from inkscape but someone could make one perhaps if
they had enough time.
