I'd say give it a shot and see if it works. I notice there's a pt_BR.po file for Brazillian Portuguese so presumably Inkscape has support for dialects and that's how it's done. Experiment around and see if you can figure out how dialects are supposed to be done. If you get it working, please document it Wiki in case other translators need to know; if it doesn't work, send in a bug report and hopefully it can be fixed up without too much trouble.

Por cierto, que los encabezados del documento los edité a mano, y vi que el copyright llegaba hasta el 2003, y que tus cambios habían sido hechos en el 2003. Como que algo no me checó.
Es porque mi primera traducción es de finales del 2003, si te fijas en el campo PO-Revision-Date verás la fecha de última modificación.
Una vez toqué los tutoriales pero me di cuenta de que no tenía ni puñetera idea de cómo traducir algunas palabras (¿viste ese 'puñetera' que os he aprendido?). Ahora que vi cómo tradujiste esto, pues voy a ver si puedo echarte una mano con la traducción. Pero será mañana, porque ahorita son las 3:08 am y hay que dormir.
