Yup. We had a file format converter for one of last year's projects. It's definitely true there's no end of these needed. I suspect that creating a good, usable converter is more than a summer's worth of effort, and unfortunately they don't seem to be things that others would pick up and continue work on, so we might want to think about how we would narrow the scope of the project to something that's doable but still produces useful results. For example, sometimes just nutting out the original format (esp. proprietary formats) can be a project in and of itself.
By the way, there was some discussion at LGM on reusing Scribus's EPS import lib in Inkscape. Could that possibly be a SoC project?
Yep, this'd be a great project. We'd need to touch base with Scribus again on this, but it'd be a wonderful feature.
I wonder if it'd be feasible/appropriate to make that lib work with UberConverter?
