Maybe someone can check it because English is not my mother tongue. I also wrote where the procedure was taken from, but it is true that I did not contact the author (this was actually an answer from one of the How-To Geek site). Should I contact him, or this is treated as "public domain" anyway?

IANAL but I think it's too trivial and factual to worry about copyright in this case.
