I have used Slackware since the 1990s. I just installed a Kubuntu partition too just for Inkscape use.
That doesn't really answer the question - both of those distros should provide a system-wide python-lxml package (though it might be named differently, and I haven't ever used slack - I'm assuming there's some sort of official repo).
