We've been playing with the settings for the Inkscape shop, the
conservancy backed spreadshirt account. I'm looking for comments from others about the look of it and what kinds of things we've added to start.
https://shop.spreadshirt.com/Inkscape-shop/
There's a few restrictions with what we can do, for instance vector art doesn't support gradients / blur etc. But we'll keep playing with the settings to get a good result and then maybe order a few things to test.
What do you think?

Wow, nice work on that Martin!
Just some comments, from a potential consumer. There needs to be a better integration of the logo with the product. Because it looks like what it probably is, more or less, a sticker on a photo of a shirt. Isn't there some way to actually see these finished products, and get a picture of the actual shirt or hat or whatever with the logo applied? Or maybe the logo could somehow be filtered, and maybe slightly morphed, to look like it's actually applied to the shirt?
After you click on the product, at least the ones I've clicked on, it doesn't say how the logo is applied. Is it silkscreened, or sprayed on, or ironed on, stitched on? If the image can't give any kind of idea how it's going to look, at least there should be a description.
Like for example, I'm curious about the baseball cap -- if the logo is going to be like a badge that's stitched on to the cap, that would make it really worth the price. But if it's going to be somehow ironed on, or stamped on, or painted on.....well, the cap is one thing that really needs a more realistic, either description or image.
Instead of everything being called "Inkscape Mountain" or "Inkscape Circle", shouldn't that title describe the product, such as "T-Shirt", "Sweatshirt" (or "hoody" I guess), "Tote Bag", "Ball Cap", etc.? Maybe that's already in the plans?
One thing I find annoying is that no matter where I place my mouse on the page, it's producing a huge pop-up thing....close-up of the logo. Does it have to be so big? I mean, the logo seems clear enough, on every single item, not to need the close-up of it. Or maybe you could make it so it only shows up when the mouse is over the logo, instead of anywhere in the whole cell? Just so there's a place to rest the mouse, without popping up the huge logo. Or maybe you can't control that?
On row 7 (I see 4 items per row), the last item on the right is a light pink t-shirt. I think the Inkscape circle is too big. Maybe it doesn't matter, since we're not seeing a true likeness anyway. But just in case :-) Oooh, I see - it's a baby shirt. Maybe it just needs to be centered? But this goes back to an earlier comment. We shouldn't need to click on an item, to find out what it is. It should be in the title.
Do people really buy custom cell phone covers very much? I'm not out there in the fast lane anymore, so maybe they do? If it were possible, I would opt for less cell phone covers, and more mugs. There's every kind of shirt imaginable, but only 2 mugs? Or maybe that's all they (Spreadshirt) offer? Or maybe less tote bags, if cell phone covers are popular?
Could we have other color choices for the logo, besides black? Or different color for the circle besides white? Could we use the 3d version of the logo, instead of the "flat" version? Or maybe have both at first, and use sales numbers to decide in the future?
The header seems a little sparse to me, and I was wondering if we could use that About Screen image version with the mug and pens/tools inside it? Or maybe we could have a contest for a header? Should there be a link back to the Inkscape homepage?
With those prices, we might get a few raised eyebrows over "Shop Freely". I get it, it's cute, and I do like it. But I don't feel like I'm shopping very freely with those prices. Oh! Maybe there should be a budget section, with low-priced items?
I don't know if I should volunteer to help with this or not. It seems like I've volunteered myself into nearly full time work, once all the website features are in place. But if there's some short term help I could give, let me know. We can't do anything with the forum, even if Courtney gives us the backup, until we have a server. So until that happens, I have a little time to spare.
Really nice work! Thanks Martin, and whoever else is helping!
All best, brynn
