You can see that some of the icons appear to be loading in a corrupted fashion. This could be related to my cvs checkout ( done anon ) or perhaps the files needed for these icons simply aren't present. I can't say for sure.
Unless glade/icons.svg (from which most of the icons are loaded) has been copied to its installation location by 'make install', the buttons will appear as garbage.
We should probably work out a more pleasant-looking default if icons.svg is not present where expected.
