Hi, just checked out version 0.36 - great job! Still, there are 2 issues that have always bugged me in sodipodi and still bug me in inkscape. If some one can suggest a workaround, I'd be glad to hear it. If not, maybe i should file this as wishlist items in bug tracker...
- Is there an easy way of creating a closed Bezier curve? Of course,
one can create an open one and then connect endpoints, but it is a long process...
If you use the "Draw precisely positioned curves" action, if you place the endpoint of the curve onto the starting point, it seems to close the curve properly for me. I've tested both the 0.36 rpm and CVS HEAD.
I think it used to not work properly in the past. A workaround I had adopted was to create rects, then convert to nodes, and then put the beziers in by node editing.
- When copying an object, the copied object is put at exactly the same
position as the original. Am I the only one who finds it inconvenient? I frequently need to have several copies of the same object in different places my drawings, and selecting one of the two objects which are literally on top of each other is awkward, especially if the objects are small. I'd much prefer that "paste" creates a floating object, which follows mouse cursor, and you click to show where to put it. What do the usability experts say about such an idea?
I also find it inconvenient but this seems to be a fairly typical behavior for drawing programs, so suspect doing it differently would be inconvenient for other users. But why don't you submit a feature request with some ideas on how it could be augmented. Also, it would probably be illuminating to know how Illustrator handles it.
