Not necessarily, just selecting the text object with selector works just as well.
Note that text is often grouped in the tutorials. So if you select a group, this does not work of course. You need to Ctrl+click so that statusbar says "Text" and then copying will work.
And so it does. The problem here is that there is something fundamental that I don't understand about using the clipboard on Linux. When I used paste in the xterm's edit menu it worked fine.
I uploaded shapes.tar.gz to the patch tracker.
If there are no objections, I will now start on the Advanced tutorial.
I am not a very proficient typist. So if someone would like to do the text work, I would be more than happy to do the graphics. Otherwise I will work through each tutorial in its entirety.
