I think the best course of action is to require gtkmm 2.12.1. (It was fixed there.) I don't see a way to require "2.10.0 or higher, but not 2.12.0 exactly".
Thanks! I confirm that with gtk 2.12.3 (not gtkmm - I have gtkmm 2.10.10 and that I didn't upgrade) printing works again on Linux.
Hold on!
Your issue appears unrelated to the one under discussion - please file a new bug about it.

I now have gtk 2.12.2-r2, gtkmm 2.12.1, cairo 1.4.12 and Inkscape rev.16862 on Gentoo Linux.
When I try to print the document at
http://www.tww.cx/downloads/boxtest.svg
(basically a rectangle on an A4 page) the output is the postscript file at
http://www.tww.cx/downloads/boxtest.ps
This does not seem to set the bounding box quite right (or at least, it does not identify the page size as "A4") and includes an extra blank page and in fact produces no output of any sort apart from two blank pages on my printers. Ghostscript also does not produce any output other than
GPL Ghostscript 8.60 (2007-08-01) Copyright (C) 2007 Artifex Software, Inc. All rights reserved. This software comes with NO WARRANTY: see the file PUBLIC for details. %%BoundingBox: 83 232 417 710 %%HiResBoundingBox: 83.588622 232.160055 416.982854 709.554283
showpage, press <return> to continue<<
%%BoundingBox: 0 0 0 0 %%HiResBoundingBox: 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
showpage, press <return> to continue<<
Ghostview does display it, albeit in a custom bounding box rather than an A4 one.
Both printers are happily printing other Postscript output as we speak.
Any ideas?
