Addendum: Of course, only if this is regarded to be of greater benefit to the Inkscape project. The bug tracker contains many RFEs for both CAD-like and further 3D functionality, and I can't tell the need for which is more pressing. I would love to work on either of them but in case I am accepted for SoC I'd leave it to the more experienced developers to decide which one would be better to do.
