Talk about the new MS vector graphics system and new windowing. You can see how SVG will be pushed around in the future. All the more reason to push SVG and Inkscape between now and before AVALON and the new WINDOWS is released. This adds new urgency to the cause. Man, why can't M$ just go along with some open standards! Arg!!!
Despite what MS and it's employees will tell you, they're a cut-throat business with one goal: to win. Promoting standards other than their own does not sit with that goal.
Fortunately Longhorn is a few years away, and between now and then I think they may have underestimated the amount the market will change because of the progress of the Free Software as well as the commercial competition.
