Sure, but somebody else would have to do that. I'm building these on a Gentoo box which doesn't have RPM installed. Also I don't see much reason to use a static RPM instead of the autopackage, about the only advantage is that "rpm -qf/rpm -ql" works, which is nice but not so nice that it's worth setting up and maintaining a new build system IMHO. Hopefully we'll get RPM integration in the next 6 months at which point it'll be academic whether you use the autopackage or something else, as you should theoretically not be able to tell the difference.
Bear in mind it takes quite a lot of effort to keep this build service running: there are a few minimal patches in there but even so, I get conflicts quite often, and sometimes it needs a manual make clean, sometimes the toolchain is upgraded and libtool throws a hissy fit etc.
