With the above I get the same error as the OP (worse I had to make sure the 10.4 SDK was installed).
So something else is going South. Any suggestions?
I don't know what error you are referring to - it might help if you attach the crash log / console messages (but I haven't built the +quartz version myself nor am I using Snow Leopard - which I assume you do since you mention the 10.4 SDK optional install?)
