I am still undecided on whether this is a bug or feature :) On one hand it's inconsistent, but on the other, it may be useful to tweak straight line fragments without curving them. (Although if you do it long enough, they eventually give up and become curves anyway). Most likely I'll fix it by preconverting all straight lines to curves in a tweaked path.
Yes, also I think this is the most consistent way to do this because: - this "feature/bug" currently really affects only path constituted of a single straight line. indeed, as you mention it, on polygons, the tweak tool eventually wins (even on open ones, because it closes them very quickly... which some evil-minded people could call a bug ;) ) - tweaking straight line polygons in a conservative manner is already quite easily done with the node tool, node sculpting etc.
Or maybe a switch? the toolbar of the tweak tool is still quite empty ;). But if there is a switch then straight lines should always stay straight, even after a lot of tweaking, and nodes should never get bezier handles (as they get now).
Anyway, I would really like the tweak tool to affect straight lines: it would be very nice to tweak text with it then! (it gives very nice "underwater" effects... except on letters like l, I, k,... in sans- serif fonts because they only have straight lines)
Cheers,

Hello all (and bulia in particular),
I just discovered that the Tweak tool as no effect on straight lines (on the middle of straight lines to be exact, because it can move the end nodes). Even when there are nodes in the middle, passing the tweak tool avec a straight line does not deform it. I would expect this:
| | | | | | |
to become more or less this:
| | \ \ | / / | I
after passing the Tweak tool over it. Is it a feature? a bug?
Cheers,
JiHO
