I can't even see that link (not available in my country).

On a related note, I've been trying to find the original logo designer to discuss official usage and branding guidelines. No such luck so far... I think that the new website could be a good opportunity to define branding guidelines, notably in the prominent use of the agreed-upon logo. (It's been bastardized and mutated all over the internet.)

Could anyone give me some clarification as to which is the "official" version? And whether there are other "official" variants (b&w, transparent background, etc.) and usage guidelines available? These could then be put in the resources section of the website to give the general public access to official logos and buttons (such as found at http://www.blender.org/blenderorg/blender-foundation/logo/ and https://twitter.com/about/resources/logos)

Personally I really don't like the use of the faux 3D icon as a logo for the website - in my mockups I've been using the flat 2D version, because it follows logo design principles - clean, timeless, simple, recognizable, universal. (icon != logo)

I'm assuming the guy didn't ask for permission and I bet he didn't follow the
GPL license. I just thought to bring this to your attention.
